Biography
Dr. Sechaba Bareetseng is Director for Africa Development at the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) and Senior Business Manager at the National Innovation Centre par Excellence (NICE) / Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) in China. At WAITRO, he leads Africa development by fostering strategic partnerships, mobilising resources and strengthening collaboration among African research and technology organizations.
He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of the Free State and a Master of Management in Innovation Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. With over 18 years of experience in research, technology transfer, and international cooperation, he has advanced bioinnovation, microbiology, indigenous knowledge systems, and human capital development through postgraduate teaching, learning, and supervision across Africa.
Currently based in China, Dr. Bareetseng continues to drive Africa China collaboration and reinforce Africa’s role in global innovation ecosystems.
